Hi Cadmanto,
Attached is an example of one approach.
I hope this helps.

Curtis,
Thanks for the link, but I am not seeing what you posted has anything to do with what I am trying
to do with this sheet metal part.
Hi Cadmanto,
Sorry for the confusion. Please see the file I attached (in the first reply), rather than the link in my signature.
I hope this helps.

Oh, so sorry. I totally missed that.
Thanks
I like the way you did that. Interesting how you did an extruded cut
as a posed to the cut feature in the sheet metal toolbar. According to the
description that command (cut) looks to do what you did. Can you shed any light on this?
Thanks for the model.
Hi Cadmanto,
The extruded cut was just sloppy practice on my part, inspired by haste. I really should have used Cut to make that feature so that it was tied to the sheet metal style (thickness parameter).
I'll guess that 95% of the time Extrude cut features (set to cut through All), and Cut features (set to the sheet metal thickness) will behave the same in a sheet metal parts, but using Cut will ensure that no problems occur for that other 5%.
I hope this helps.

Curtis,
I totally get that!!!
But being someone that is learning how to use this functionality
unfortunately the quick and dirty method doesn't work.
I am going through a tutorial and if you notice in the image I posted to start
it shows the cut feature, but I am just not getting how that feature gives the results
shown in the image. I am just hoping to understand how it works in this case.
Any change you could whip up a model using that feature for me? So I can see the methodology?
I appreciate your help.
Scott
Hi Cadmanto,
From the first image you posted it looks to me like that tab feature was created using a Cut feature and then creating a Face feature perpendicular to it. Inventor will create the bend automaticaly (in many cases) when creating Face features that connect to the existing part, but I suspect a bit of a cheat was used to get the tab profile re-created. Meaning that the tab profile would need to be created twice, and would not typically be the best way to go.
Using the method demonstrated in the file I attached is the best way to do this as far as I know, because the cut and the flange Of course as mentioned, I should have used Cut rather than Extrude.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Curtis.
Can't argue with what you said. Not knowing exactly what they did and looking at what you did
I would tend to agree with you. I will give that a try. Thanks again.
