setting cable harness library default location

Why is the cable and harness library location option not listed in the (tools/application options/file) area?
Or where do I setup the defaut location?

Im saving the library on our server but when I create a new harness it uses the library from in the local inventor folders..
and I have to change it manually eveytime.

So how/where do I specify the default library location for all new harnesses? I guess Im just missing where to set the default location...

Hi, mcgyvr,

Cable and Harness library location is located at the harness settings
dialog. You can access the dialog by right click on harness assembly node in
the browser-->harness settings-->file locations, change the location of the
library.

To make a custom default location, one of the ways is to modify the template
file. Cable and Harness template file is located at ...\Inventor 11\Cable &
Harness\Templates\harness.iam by default. Follow the steps to change the
default location of the library.
1. Open the template harness.iam (you'd better make a backup just in case)
2. Right click on harness assembly node in the browser -->harness
settings-->file locations
3. Change the location of the library file to wherever you want.
4. Save the template.
5. Try to create new harness assembly, you'll get the new library location
as the default one.

Hope this helps,
Thanks,
-Richard

can I suggest that in future releases that the default location be setup under the tools/application options/file locations area so that its not a secret where to setup the default.
Then its in the same area as all other default file location setups (well except for punches/ifeatures)

But thanks for the answer I will try that.

Good suggestion, mcgyvr. We will let our product designer know this.

Thanks,
