Select part to select line...automatically?

Hi all,

When creating sections views, for example, I sometimes change the select to "part". (I think the options are part, line or feature). Anyway, this allows me to easily turn visibility off for the parts not desired in the view. I then go dimension the new view, (or rotate) but I can't select end points or lines and it's because I haven't remembered to turn the "select" back to line. My question is: Is there a setting to make this automatically go back to "line" when selecting the rotate view or dimension commands? Or is it just a habit I have yet to learn?
