section views - background items

Is there a way to show only what you cut through in a secion view? In other words, background geometry is not visible. I can turn the individual lines off, but that is very time-consuming.

thanks,
Andy

If you right click the section in the tree, click
show contents You can shut off vissibility to any components you dont want to
see.

Andy:

In the parent view, the one from which the section was created, show
contents and turn off the visibility of the ones you don't want to see.

thanks for the responses.
Actually, I was concerned with a section view of an individual part. I guess there is no quick way in that scenario.
Good to know the choices for an assembly, however.

thanks,
Andy

Basically it can be done by this long method using
a series of "extra" views:

- Create a side view

- create a section view through a point that
divides the part with the arrows pointing towards the half of the part that you
want to use in your final section.

- create another side view by projecting from the
first section ( it will only show the half of the part within your section
definition)

- lastly, create the section view you want by
sectioning from this new projection. (since the unwanted stuff is not seen in
the projection view, it won't show in the new section.)
