Section View Properties in iam

Using half / quarter section view, I know how to section CC parts.

How do I NOT section custom parts?

There has to be setting somewhere. Anyone know?

You are talking about something similar to the Display Options under "Section Standard Parts" where you can select which groups you want sectioned except this in assembly mode I am assuming.

Or are you looking for something where you can randomly select individual parts that you don't want sectioned in the assembly model.

Either way I am not seeing anything that does this in the model.  If there is I would like to know myself as well.

I guess you are looking for 'participate in assembly and drawing sections' you find this checkbox in the part environment

tools --> document settings --> modeling tab

i hope this helps!

Curtis,

There is obviously some setting that allows / causes CC parts to not participate in sectioning in the assembly environment. (see below)

I was looking for a way to make one of my parts behave the same.

Edit the part you don't want sectioned and uncheck this box in document settings.12-11-2012 8-58-00 AM.png

John,

Thanks for the tip.

It is a shame that this is not built into the actual section command itself, like I have experienced in other softwares.

Where you can select components not to be affected while in the command.

Yes, sure would be nice if you could change this at the assembly level.
