I have an assembly with about 75 parts inside a cylinder shell. I would like to display a half-section view in the assembly with only the shell and a couple of other parts sectioned, but with all the internal components unaffected. I found a solution in the forum that stats I need to edit each component in the assembly that I do not want to include in the section (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-General/Section-view-only-for-selected-parts-in-an-assembly/m... However, this is very cumbersome with such a large number of parts. Is there a more elegant way of selecting only a small number of components to include in an assembly section?
Thank you,
Ian

Ian,
Welcome to the forum.
Not really!!! The solution offered in the link you posted is probably your best bet. The only other thing I can think of would be to create an assembly cut.
Even with that it would entale some trickery with the view reps or maybe the iassembly method to get ultimately what you are looking for.

It might be. You might want to consider posting in idea in the Inventor IdeaStation then posting a link back here for that idea.
Then referencing this thread in the idea.
