Normally standard fasteners do not section as drawing standards advise. You would need to convert to normal part to section. Or edit the view and change the setting to allow section of standard parts which would section all other bolts too.

How to convert to standard part?

And where to edit the view? in the Application Options or Document Settings?

1. File>Save Copy As

2. When you can't find something - right mouse button (see attached image) (note: you can set section participation by component)

or

for all parts rather than by component - see attachment.

No, not in a drawing the section didn't work, in a part file.

I opened a bolt from content center, saved it to another name and edited the bolt.

In that file i couldn't slice the part, the command view>half section view

I thought I posted in the attached image above?

Tools>Application Options>Assembly tab - Section all Parts.

Oops, now I am confused whether you are in an assembly or part.

Attach the ipt file here that exhibits this behavior.

Try opening the part - Tools > Modeling > "Participate in Assembly and Drawing Sections".  It's probably unchecked.
