Scaling Objects in Inventor

Hello Inventor Community!

I am an intermediate Inventor and 3ds max user.

I downloaded a .ipt file from the internet and am modifying the part for my own purposes. There are no features on this model other than a file named Base1. What I want to do is scale the object. So my question is : How would I scale an object ONLY on the X-Axis, Just like in 3DS Max, how you can choose to scale an object on a single axis, I need to do the same, but in Inventor as I cant export my 3ds Max file to Inventor.

I tried using the Derive Component option, but that scales the object overall, as I ONLY need it on the X AXIS. Any help would be GREATLY apreciated!

Thank you for reading!

Everytime i use the Park Shrinkage, it stretches it rather than shrinks it. I tried entering negative values and it wont work that way...

Oops, I hadn't thought about scaling down rather than up.

You could non-uniform Scale up and then with Derived Component scale down, but this would take some calculations.

I recommend - back to the add-in, rather than trying to use the plastic part method.

Show screen shot of your UAC setting.  (temporarily turn off your anti-virus too)

Show screen shot of your add-in manager.

Okay here's my UAC

I reran the install file one more time (the .bat file) and...

Untitled2.png

It showed up now in the Add-Ins folder, and when I ran the program...

Untitled3.png

I get this error code. I have the latest, most up-to-date .NET framwork, so I don't know what the issue might be this time!

Turn UAC back on.

Reboot the computer.

Restart Inventor and try again to run the tool.

I can't read the error.

Click on that box to make sure it is the active focus.

Hit Alt Print Screen on the keyboard.

Open MS Paint and Ctrl V to paste the image of the error dialog.

Save and attach the file here.

Hi

Appoligies in advance if this has been answered, but I have not read the entire thread. I get the impression that the SDK does not want to install.

Following is an extract I wrote on my BLOG.

Hope this solves your problem

.............................................

Aaaargh !!!!

I have just re-installed my work computer, a two day affair I might add. I am not complaining, it was taking me long and longer to boot my computer, average time from Logon to being able to use the machine was 7 - 10 minutes. absolute madness.

Anyway the reason for the post, it too me forever to get the Inventor SDK working, I thought I would put it here, because I struggled to find support on the web.

Note, The registry info has been extracted from the Autodesk Forums.

1 - DISABLE ANTIVURUS
2 - Perform the following registry change:

RUN Regedit.exe
Drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk
Right click on the folder and click PERMISSIONS...
Click the Advanced Button
Click the Owner Tab
Click the Change owner to: Administrators (your workstations name) and
Check mark the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Click Apply
Click the Permissions Tab and double check that the Administrators have Full Control for This key and subkeys.
Click OK , Click OK , Close Regedit
Restart the computer.

3 - Install the "User Tools" SDK
(C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor \SDK)

Select the "Just Me" option
Run everything as "Administrator"

4 - run the "RegisterDrawingTools.exe"

Hi

Yes the tool works, I must admit I have to learn how to use it though.

It was not installed on my computer, I did the following to install it:

1- Close Inventor

2- Run the MSI Installer: Users\public\documents\autodesk\inventor2014\SDK\user tools.msi

2a- This in turn created a “User tools Directory”

3- I then ran the “\User tools\DerivedPart_SP\Install.bat”

3a - Make sure to run as Administrator. (Right click and Select “Run as Adminstrator”)

This will install the “add in” to the Add in folder in Inventor

Hi,

I am a complete beginner with inventor and I don't perfectly understand what you are saying. The fact is, I WANT to use inventor for non uniform scaling yet for some reason, I can't at all. I tried installing the derive sp addin but it doesn't show in my loaded addins and I have no idea how to get there. Please help me and thanks in advance!

By the way, I have Inventor Pro 2015

Hi

Are you able to list the steps you have done so far to install the SDK?
