Hello Inventor Community!
I am an intermediate Inventor and 3ds max user.
I downloaded a .ipt file from the internet and am modifying the part for my own purposes. There are no features on this model other than a file named Base1. What I want to do is scale the object. So my question is : How would I scale an object ONLY on the X-Axis, Just like in 3DS Max, how you can choose to scale an object on a single axis, I need to do the same, but in Inventor as I cant export my 3ds Max file to Inventor.
I tried using the Derive Component option, but that scales the object overall, as I ONLY need it on the X AXIS. Any help would be GREATLY apreciated!
Thank you for reading!
There is a non-uniform scaling tool in the SDK.
Or if you have Inventor Professional you can take it over to Tooling to do the scaling.
DerivedPart_ScalePosition
I seem to recall that there is some sort of ReadMe description of each one of those tools.
Yes, I see. I read this readme before I installed, and followed the steps (It was just "run the Install.bat file" which I did. Now do I go back into inventor and derive a part again or do i use the Visual Studio files given to me?

I don't know what "Visual Studio" is.
I would use Inventor to non-uniform scale the ipt files with the Derived Components Scale and Position tool.
Did you turn off UAC for the install?
I doubt Windows will allow a bat to run with UAC on.
What version of Inventor are you running?
What is your OS?
Complete information.

I should have asked this at the beginning. You alread had what you needed.
FYI - I had not installed the DeriveComponent_SP on this machine.
I tried without turning off UAC. It didn't work.
I turned off UAC and rebooted.
Ran the bat again.
Rebooted the computer and started Inventor.
Checked the add-ins and there it was.
But since you have Inventor Professional and don't need this.
Open your part file.
Go to the Environments tab and click
Mold Design
See images.
Pay attention to where the file is being saved (there will be a whole bunch of files created - but you only need the one.
After scaling the part you might want to right click on the Derived Component node in the browser and Suppress Link with Base Component.
Got curious so I ran the msi and derive & s/p bat. I get the below error when starting IV.
Not sure what the problem is but I was able to create a keyboard shortcut in tools>option>customize to launch the app.
I also get this error when closing IV
