SCALE

When in Inventor

how do I know what scale the drawing is when printed out? After I print the drawing in size A, I want to put a scale on the drawing and measure it, how do I know it is 1/8" = 1" or whatever???

View Scale.PNGWhen you create the views - the scale is given (or you can always check or edit as needed).

Put the scale in your title block.

Edit the view, at the bottom you can turn on the label and scale for the view. This assumes that you will be plotting with a 1:1 scale for the sheet.

As I stated, it is the scale of the view on the sheet. If you print the sheet to a scale other than 1:1 then you will have problems. You have two different factors, first is the view on the drawing sheet, for this to be correct, the drawing sheet must be printed at a 1:1 scale. This always assumes a 1:1 print/plot.

You probably are using the "fit" which will reduce the scale somewhat because of the printable area on the paper depending on the printer.

Create a 1" square cube IPT file, place it in a drawing sheet at 1:1 and then print it at 1:1 and measure the item on the printed sheet.

Hi guys

how do I get a 1:20 drawing to 1:1 on cad?

I tried reversing when scaling so scaling as usual but 1 enter then 20 enter instead of the other way around.

I really need these drawings 1:1 by this evening. Really hope someone can assist me .

This post was about printing a drawing.

What exactly are you trying to acheive? Creating a drawing view the correct scale in Inventor or Plotting an existing drawing?

hey thanks for your reply.
I have couple of existing drawings that are on 1:20 scale on A1 paper and i
brought those images on to cad and traced them and scaled them to
1:20...now im confused how do i get them 1:1 as I need to know the actual
measurements.. am i making any sense? This is because I want to work on
revit and need the actual measurements to draw it up on revit.
