Saving Representations

Help

I am using Inventor 2013. I want to save an Assy file in a specific Representation, so it opens and views as a specific representation, not as Master Representation. I have my file Open Options set as Last Active, but my assembly always opens in the Master Representation. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I am guessing only the end of your reply is showing - 'and are you creating new view representations?' - Please re-post if more info should be displayed. To answer this part of message, I am creating new representations.

I found if you create a new view representation (in 2014 at least)  and save the file with that rep active, it will open back up in a new session with that same representation active.  Are you looking for something more then that?

That is exactly what I am doing and aiming to achieve. Create a new rep, save file with new rep active, close file, open file, I would expect new rep to be active but Master rep now active. Cant work it out, Ive been using Inventor extensively for 10 years and reps for as long as they have been around. We recently had a migration to new PDM software, since then I have been unable to open files with newly created rep active. Any ideas?

I am using 2014 at home and what I told you in my last posting was tried at home.  With that said, my "Master" representation was locked.  Have you tried locking the master rep then trying this?  Also, using vault should have nothing to do with this.  The vault is only a different place to store the files that offers revision control.  Tha's all.

Here on Inventor 2010 the same behavior. When you change the lock state from locked to unlocked or vv. and save the document, then the active view is active when openening the document again.

Why not just hit options when you are opening the file and pick what view representation, lod etc you want? You can open any saved view representation you have saved ...

Using 2013 pro, I can't reproduce your problem.

Maybe a shutdown-reopen of your inventor solves the problem?

Or check if you need to update your inventor.
