saving problems

i'm using inventor 7 at my college. i save my .iam on my network drive, but it always saves 'Part1' and so on files to my documents. and when i try to open the .iam, it says it can't find 'Part1' and so on, but it shows it being under my documents, but it still won't open it. so i have to re-place half of my components. what the (Edited by Moderator) is wrong with this?

Is My Documents you default location for your project? You should have
the ipt files in a project with the iam (unless your ipt are all library
items.

You need to set up a Workspace in your project file. I'm guessing that
you're navigating to a folder and saving the assembly file there, but you
need to add a Workspace location in your project file so the rest of the
files will save as a default to that location.
