sat import scale

I have just been importing in some vendor .sat files. When I bring them in,
the units are wrong. No matter what I chose in the options for the units
(inches or mm), the model is always 25.4 times too large. I know I can edit
the third line of the .sat file and change it from 25.4 to 1 and the import
comes in correctly.

My question, what do I have to do to import a .sat file and not have to
manually edit the file before importing? Is something wacked about the
import?

I am sure others have this same issue.

Sample of the .sat file:

700 7784 1 0
16 Autodesk AutoCAD 17 ASM 6.0.5.7004 NT 24 Mon Jun 20 13:49:13 2005
25.399999999999999 9.9999999999999995e-007 1e-010
body $-1 -1 $-1 $1 $-1 $-1 #
lump $-1 -1 $-1 $-1 $2 $0 #

Bring it into Mechanical Desktop and scale it, then ACISOUT...

Inventor, after 10 releases STILL HAS NO PART SCALING CAPABILITY, heinous,
reprehensible, inexcusable, ridiculous.

That may create problems, so check it. There was (is? maybe comes and
goes) a bug in MDT; would export SAT as mm regardless of dwg units, IIRC.

Last I knew IV handles the situation in an appropriate fashion, e.g.:

-1 unitless: IV allows user to specify units on import.
All other values: imports per units declared in file.

Is that what might be called "a bone of contention" ? 8~)
