Roofing Bitmap Problem

Roofing Bitmap Problem

I have tried resizing this Bitmap to show correctly in Inventor. I have gone
through several tutorials mentioned here but no luck. I can not get the
shingles to show correctly when viewing a 40' roof from a distance. The
resolution is already 72 dpi. If I scale it to something very large then the
file size is way to big and bogs down inventor. When I zoom in real close
the shingles look fine.
Any help will be appreciated.

no, I would like to see the bitmap texture on the roof, then I can probably diagnose the problem better. A unrendered and rendered shot would be helpful.

Paul,

The DPI needs to be reduced to 18dpi. for the image.
In the attached image the DPI for your shingle image is set to 18dpi (made
from the 72 dpi image).
I then scaled the texture to 200% to get what I think looks good.
Notice the part I put it on... 18'0" x 40'0"
I also rendered it so you could see what it looks like. Ignore the glare
that's because I just applied the texture to the default and didn't mess
with the surface style settings, just the image dpi.

Since I run my 'puter @ 1600x1200 I also reduced the screencap image by 50%
so I could attach it.
I will post the 18dpi image after this post. BTW, if you simply reduce the
DPI the image size (in inches) changes, but not the filesize. It stayed at
192kb.

Thank You Bill, It's perfect. You made my day.
I have a lot of different roof materials that I can now alter to be usable
in Inventor.

Glad to hear it Paul. BTW, there is a tutorial explaining the process for
this at www.b2-design.biz/tuts.html
