RobCad Conversion

Does anyone have a recommendation for RobCad to Inventor conversions. Part Level.
Inventor 2008 and 2009

Received the files in IGES format but only come in as wireframe. Can not modify the shape by extruding, etc.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Can you attach the IGES file here?

Are you getting this file from someone or do you have access to RoboCAD yourself to set the export Options?

We use use .SAT for RobCAD to Inventor conversions. We end up with
solids, but all round faces come through faceted.

I would be interested to see if anyone has a better method yet. Maybe
there's different export options in RobCAD that I am not familiar with
as I do not have the software loaded on my workstation.

I tried to post a file for review but it is around 3mb. I would be happy to email it. I am using Inventor 2008, but have worked with the file in 2009 as well.

I have access to the exported .IGS files only. Difficult to obtain any further export formats so I am kinda stuck with what I have.
I am attaching a web link to one of the files. I have uploaded it to my FTP Server.

Are you able to modify the part as far as trimming to a surface, etc??

What is CE? I am definitely not a power user...

I definitely have not used Construction Environment.

Is it new in 2010?

Would it be possible to send me the .ipt file that you worked with. I have around 100 of these to do. Edited by: thejodester on Oct 19, 2009 11:18 AM

Open the iges, highlight all surfaces, copy to CE. Delete all surfaces. Edit
CE. Stitch surfaces, multi-body option

Hello All,

As this is a very old thread I wondered if things had moved on and if there are some better options/converters for the .co / .ce files?

The time it will take the simulation team to export and issue out as a different file forma is very large. And then I would have to import/convert which is also a little slow.

Any ideas?

Hi! I am not familiar with RobCAD. I am wondering if you can convert RobCAD files to STEP or JT and then import them to Inventor?

Many thanks!

Hello,

I already know how to export and convert from their end but it is extremely time consuming for them. As to do a single production cell is 1 hour and we have a few hundred to do.

That is why I wondered about importing native formats.
