Resize Workplane Failed IV2013 SP2

I'm trying to make a workplane smaller by dragging in the corners and getting the following:-

Bit odd! What difference does it make to the model what the extents of the workplane are?

Typically I managed to sort it as soon as posting. I went back to the Master ViewRep for the ipt and it allowed me to resize but still had the odd "ghost" effect of the original workplane size. Saved the part, opened again and all is fine.

However, I would have thought I should be able to resize the workplane whenever I want??
