Replacing Parts with Custom Parts created from Content Center

I am trying to replace a custom part - created from a content center part -  with a copied part with a different name.  (I am using the replace tool in an assembly.)  However, Inventor is not replacing the part with the part I pick but rather the content center version of it.  How can I stop it from doing that?

(Side question: Why would it be designed like that?)

Welcome to the forum.

What version of Inventor are you using?

I am able to get mine to swap out a non CC part.

It looks like since you are replacing a CC part is wants to default back to the CC.

What I would do is remove the CC part and then insert the part you need.

I did end up removing the part and putting in the part I needed.  But I do think it should be able to replace the part with the part I select not it's own part.  I recently upgraded to Inventor 2013 up from 2011.  I never had this issue in 2011.

Thank you for the reply Scott,

I totally agree with you.  Like I said I was able to in my version.

That's why I asked you what version you were running because if you are running the same then there is

no reason why yours shouldn't work the same way.
