Replacing frame generator components using ilogic

Hello everyone,

I am currently building a model where the frame generator is necessary, however I want to create a rule that will change the structural piece with another structural piece of the same family.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Trevor

Im using Inventor 2014

Hi Trevor,

Firts of all there is no API dealing with Frame Generator (FG) related things, so you can only rely on the underlying Inventor API - as mentioned here:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-customization/ilogic-frame-generator-part-change/td-p/4540643

The main problem seems to be creating an FG part from scratch - i.e. instantiating a part from Content Center and modifying it so that it will be a proper FG part.

If you already created the part that you need through the FG UI then you could possibly swap that with another part in the FG assembly using ComponentOccurrence.Replace - that is supported in the UI as well.

My colleague has just logged a change-request for the functionality needed - converting a normal part to an FG part:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-customization/notch-a-fg-part-with-a-not-fg-part/m-p/5446177

Cheers,
