Reordering Assembly Browser

Is there a way to reorganize the Assembly Browser by moving parts up and
down the list.
I am using IV 7. I think that in previous versions I remember dragging
parts up or down the list.
Am I missing something?

We lost the ability in R6. A workaround by Kathy J.

"Make a dummy assembly and place your working assembly in as the first and
ground. Now place your components into the dummy assembly. Don't
constrain. Now Drag and Drop them into your working assembly at the point
in the browser that you want (they won't end up at the bottom of the list).
Now edit your working assembly and constrain."

You could in 5.3 but it is currently disabled due to implications with assembly features (if you search this newsgroup you'll find
an accurate explanation from the iTeam). It will be back sometime in the future, but I don't know when.

You can "workround" this by demoting parts into a sub, them promoting them back to the top level, but requires a bit of patience
and a real desire to place lots of assembly constraints.

Thanks! Kinda what I thought! Sure would be nice to have it back for large,
ever-changing assemblies!

It's all about organizing your assembly so you can find and select objects in the browser faster. Smaller assemblies don't have as much the need as larger assemblies.

They have already said many-a-time, this will be put back in. WHEN is the
problem. They opened a can of worms with assembly features and it's not just a
line of code to put back in.

I don't know either...looks like there is a rift in the space-time
continuum.

That could explain Sean's wierd dimensions as well

I've seen it working again in our internal builds.

I'm looking forward to the return of this feature.

I can see this. I use a lot of subassemblies to organize my large assembly.
