Rendering in white with shadows

Hi everyone

I have been reading about the missing Flat White colour - and tried all of the solutions (I think). Tried to put self-illumination on - but then I dont get any shadows ??

How can I render anything so that it looks like white ??? Maybe im missing something in the creation of new colours - but I find it quite complicated 😞

Can anyone tell me how to render white with shadows ??

Render how?
Realistic setting ray tracing or inventor studio?
White has been a difficult color to display for a while now.
The best way i usually get it to show more like white is to change the lighting environment.
More ambient light makes the white look better, but can lead to an "overexposed" look with other colors...

Can you post a screenshot of what you're trying to render?

Check the color of your Lights, are they White or some Yellow-Cream color.

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Solved 🙂

Naturally - yes - more light = white color - solved it 🙂 in Studio

But still - its a bit "stupid" that I have to make parts illuminate themselves to make them look white outside Studio?

Thanks.

You can edit the lighting environment outside of studio with the "styles and standards editor", manage tab > styles editor.
(or view tab, lighting environment dropdown > settings)

I don't think it's a good idea to make colors "self-illuminate" when they aren't a lightsource.

Then again, i do most of my rendering in ShowCase nowadays.

OK - I think Showcase is worth a try 🙂

By the way - if I edit the lighting environment - I will have to do it for every single part and assembly - or is there a way to change the "Standards" ??

You could save the changes to the style library.
Then you should update your templates with those settings for when you make new parts.
Older files can be updated from the style library as well.

(your project file must allow read/write access to the style library in order to save changes.)
