Removing hidden lines by selecting features, possible workaround?

I have been very frustrated by not being able to control
which features in a part show up as hidden lines in drawing
views in IDW files.

I have a long part with many bolt hole patterns, and a
hidden-line drawing view from the end presents a sea of
lines for all of the bolt holes. Pretty much impossible
to sort through and remove the undesirable ones.

But!

I was poking around with the RMB in the drawing view and
discovered the "show contents" selection, which adds an
entry under the view's browser entry which lists all of
the part's features. I thought "Wow, I will now RMB on
one of the features and I will get a chioce of turning off
this feature's hidden lines!." Well, I didn't, but I did
find that I can change the color of the hidden lines for
each feature. So, for all of the features that I want out
of the view I have changed the line color to "black". (I
use a black background when editting IDW files.)

This gets them off the drawing when I am editting but I
suspect that they will show up when I plot the drawing.
I may go through before plotting and change them all to
"white".

This seems slightly less painful than wading through the
view deleting each line though.

What we really want is to be able to say "Don't show this
feature's hidden lines!"

Well, I agree that would be a nice setting, but in the meantime, if you happen to have or will be getting R8, you can now window select 😉
