'Reloading' assembly, how to?

What is the procedure for reloading an assembly or part within an assembly after it has been modified?

At the top of the window look for the lightning bolt. That is the update
button. Click this and the modifications will reveal themselves. If you
modified a file then opened the assembly it was in it should update
automatically.

This does not happen, I am working on an assembly that someone else has loaded into there assembly.
What we want to happen is when I have made some changes we want to reflect these changes in the other persons assembly.

Does this work of the 'update button'?

Yes, if the Muti-User switch is set to "on".
