Record a macro in autodesk inventor ?

Hi,

I can't figure out how to record a macro. Is it really impossible ? I can't imagine such a good soft not to have such a common fonction ?

Thanks for your help.

No you cannot record a macro.
BUT you can write coding for it.

What are you trying to do?
There are already alot of addins,etc.. out there already.

Hu, I've got a *lot* of things to do, since I am re-designing a complicate part I made first with SolidWorks™.

I already coded a few macros with Solidworks™, and I'd like to convert them.

The macros import points from Excel™, create planes and 2D/3D sketches from these points and then create surfaces from these sketches, and eventually add constraints.

Thanks in advance for your help.

this probably can't be done by a recorded macro, even if you could record them. Did you record these macros with SW? Also, can you just use the SW part directly? (i.e. export from SW, then import into IV) You might look over in the Inventor customization group for more answers.

I have done similar work in Solidworks, but have not needed to convert anything to Inventor. I would say that your best bet, and yes it will be some serious work, but go through your Solidworks macros and identify commands and objects and find their equivalent in the Inventor API and re-write the macros in Inventor. Sounds painful, but no other options exist in Inventor.

Just thinking about it : I digged the web looking for inventor macros tutorials, but could not find much.

I'm especially looking forward creating folders, moving items into them and changing names of items.

Thanks in advance.

First reply above: No.

Even SW macro record can't record everything.  It only work on very simple commands.
