Recommendations for a AV & Firewall Program

I've already got an AV and firewall program, Avenquest Systemsute Pro 14.4, on my system but I'm getting naffed off with it to say the best

Why I hear some one say well it bugger's up the icon representations so instead of seeing a graphical representation of the part etc. All I see is the bog-standard default icon. Yes my setting are all correct, large icon, no customization.

This is what I see when System Suit is installed, when or before installation I go a perfect representation of the files.

YEP its annoying more so when several files have parts of the same name but are totally different and I can't tell them apart at quick glance.

So was there a question in there? Looking for recommendations on AV/Firewall programs?

Just run the free Microsoft security essentials and built in Microsoft firewall, stay off the pron sites and let your mail host scan/clean before it gets delivered to you. We have been running for years like that with no problems at all.

IMO the only people that need virus/firewalls are those that visit pron/malicious websites and those that are stupid enough to open wierd attachments from someone they don't know or click on viagra links,etc...

Never had it set to start with.

Got this stupid reply from Avenquest though - Joke of the week candidate

"Do you have link to a free ware version of the effected progam? We would need to test with the program in question to try and determine the issue."

I've got no chose but to have a separate AV and firewall to that provide by MS, it's a prerequisite to sub-contracting to the UK MOD main contractor/suppliers

I've been using Avast! antivirus for many years at home with no issues (and no viruses!).  I'm using the basic free version, but you can check out the options here: http://www.avast.com/en-gb/compare-antivirus.

I use ESET both at home and at work. No issues at either location, though I also credit our IT guys for being top notch. Not so much the case with me at home, but still no problems. Your mileage may vary, batteries not included, etc.
