What viewer should I download in order to strictly view .idw files??????

i think inventor viewer may open up idw files

You could use the "Inventor View" program which installs in the windows menu.

Click on "All Programs"    >  Autodesk  > Find your version of Inventor expand and the tools is right there.

After you open the tool, click on file then open. Select Idw as the filter type.

I have included a screenshot.(I'm showing 2012 but its the same for 2011, and 2010)

that would be good if they had inventor installed on the machines

the separate standalone viewer is for people who don't need to have inventor installed and they just want to view .ipts, iams or idw file and not edit them
