Rants and Raves

I've used Pro/E for some years now, and I always loved it. After switching companies last year, I began to use inventor. Inventor is so intuitive, and making part changes (edits) "on the fly" while in an assembly is very cool and a huge time saver. I think that Inventor is a great tool for those who want to do a quick design and make some "single-use" drawings. This is what drives me nuts about the most recent release.

Instead of making product improvements like a functional presentation file, or the ability to have "options" on an assembly (be able to call optional parts on an assembly drawing, and not have to write them in by hand. this could be parts that ARE in the assembly file, but are suppressed). Instead we recieved gizmo's and gadgets that don't work yet, but should help AutoDesk sell more software. Kudos for adding the weldments, but simply for the reason that we could not cut in an assembly before (which is rediculous and completely unacceptable).

Anyway, that's the news, and I'm outta here...

Not sure if I understand but you can add additional
lines to your BOM?

Like a base model Chev - no options.

All the options available pulled from a seperate list or file included in the BOM

I think.

We could use such a capability too.
