I have a workstation that I keep pretty clean. I also have a laptop that has
all sorts of interesting stuff on it. I use the laptop for business trips
and working at home, and it contains everything I might need when I'm out of
the office. The laptop runs fine (for a laptop, anyway). I was surprised to
see the performance problems reported on the newsgroup, because my laptop is
usually the canary in the coal mine.

are experiencing. One thing I haven't seen mentioned is what other programs
are on the workstations. I started out with a format and restored my
programs with Drive Image (30 minute deal) so my system is pretty clean.
Basically I run just what's needed to get the work done and don't download
stuff off the web other than Inventor utilities some of our generous
benefactors have written for us. This makes me wonder what Autodesk runs on
the systems they use to test Inventor and if that might account for some of
the differences in performance.
