"The active project cannot be changed while Inventor files are open"

I close all files, try to change projects and I get this message, "The
active project cannot be changed while Inventor files are open".

I have to close Inventor and restart to change Projects.

Do you have an embedded spreadsheet open in Excel when this happens? I had to close an embedded spreadsheet before to avoid that message.

No excel spreadsheet open here. Not sure what is up, I had this problem last
week. Never happened before.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I also start another session of Inventor and I assign to it a different project.

Bad practice... Projects a tracked by Windows, and Windows can only track
one project at a time. If you are working on assemblies, you can screw up
links.....

I have had this happen a number of times with 2008. If anyone could figure out why it is not recognizing that all files are closed, I would be interested.

In Inventor 2008, is the Close All command available under the Files
pulldown? If that does not work, you may still have a .lck file present.

Many thanks Dennis!

I had one file that would not 'let go' of Inventor 2013 and the 'Close All' command did the trick.  I was getting tired of closing and re-starting Inventor.

Thanks again!

Welcome to the group dwing.

Dennis was one of the all time greats in this group, if you find any of his posts from years past, I guarentee you'll learn from him as we all did.  Sadly Dennis left us a few years ago.  The rest of us do what we can to help out so feel free to ask whatever questions you have.
