Project file question

Can't anyone explane to me why the Workgroup Search Paths does not default
to the "0101 Machine Assembly" path in the "Locations" pane of the "Open
File" dialog when using the Project file below? And how I can get it to
default there if it can be done?

TIA

Rick,

The "locations" window(in the File-Open dialog) is not not big enough to
show all the paths without a scroll bar. Soooo the little girly-man window
scrolls to the bottom of the list of paths, bottoms out, then highlights and
displays the path closest to the top of the little window.

Cool, huh!

I think you use less words to explain that than I do. I nominate you to explain that one to anyone who asks in the future.

I think it was you who explained it to me 😉

Thanks,

Now I understand why is works that way, but I don't understand why AutoDesk
programed it to work that way.

That is a great explanation of what it highlights first, but why doesn't
it maintain the same order as listed in the project file? Love the
"girly-man" reference to not being able to resize the dialog box. Too
many of those type dialog boxes in IV.

Hal,

Doesn't it simply alphabetize the list?.... as far as I know it keeps its
search order as defined in the IPJ.

But I do have a question about hiding paths.

I made a copy of a part (did not change the name) and placed it into a
seperate directory. When I went to open this part, a message popped up and
said "I know you want to open this one... but I really think you should open
the "original" one that is a part of an assembly...oh, and BTW; you have no
choice-the No button below is just for looks-it doesn't do anything"

Hmmph!

So I did the underscore thing to the name of the "assembly" path to hide it
and tried again.... same message.

Do hidden paths actually get hidden from the search order, or just from the
"locations" window?

_ (underscore) a.k.a. proxy paths are only used for iParts. They are hidden
from the location window but they are included in the search path. I'm not
sure what a non_library proxy path would really be used for..?

It sorts alphabetically on the folder name not the workgroup name. I
would rather it keep the same order as the project file order.
