Product Design Suite Std 2013 - Inventor BIM Exchange

Where does Export Building Components pull the data for the ADSK file. Specifically, the 2D files for the Generated Contents (i.e., top, bottom, front and etc... views)? I generated an ADSK file from an assembly drawing and only the isometric view was thumbnailed.

Additionally, once the SubstitueLevelofDetail file was generated, the original assembly file was no longer viewable as an  editable 3D assembly. How can I resurect the original assembly file?

Thanks...

Part two solved...

1> I opened the original file and the SubstituteLevelofDetail1) file opens.

2> I double-clicked on the Substitute_1:1 file and right-clicked on the original file

3> I selected the Open Base Component option and my original file is displayed with full menu functionality

Still need help with the 2D Generated Content in BIM Exchange.

The translation reports look the same on my machine. You can use the 'Import from file' command in the Export Building Component dialogue to select a custom thumbnail image.

If I'm not mistaken, this I had previously tried and the default image changed to the view I specified. No additional views were visable in the report. I guess my question would then be; is there a way to populate the report with the alternate views of the product, or if not, why have those listings as part of the report?

Being new to Inventor and the BIM environment, I was not certain what data would actually translate from the ADSK data into Revit (2D and/or 3D data) for product placement and visibility. This being the case, I downloaded the Revit Trial and placed my component in an appropriate file so I could Load Family type and Place the Component. From there I could see the part and rotate the views to see it in application. I now see it is not necessary to have the alternate views visible in the ADSK report. I guess I was confused by the fact that the report shows a place for the data, yet the data wasn't populated and this led me to believe I must have forgot a step... or not.
