Problems with INVENTOR 6 program

I had problems with inventor 6 . It seems that when I went to constraint two
surfaces face to face the model would disappear and the program would crash.
It did this several times. I then deinstalled INVENTOR 6, MDT 5.3 and
anything else I could think of that may have been associated.

I then reinstalled Inventor 6 from the CD and executed it. The program
opened up fine however the template exceed the available screen size and the
model is not centered.

I then went to install SP 1 and SP 2. Some dialog box came up asking me if
the program was installed.

Well at this point in time I do not know where to go from here.

Got any ideas?

Some coincidence, looks both of us have the same problem
computer crashing when applying assy constraint.
Was thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling IV, but that
did not work for you, so I wont try it.
In case you get a favorable answer would appreciate
if you will share it with me, will do likewise.

Thank you

Windows 2000 professional, Radeon 64 K graphics

Why? Do you think it is the driver fro the graphics
card.

OS: Micro Soft Window 2000 Professional, SP 3

Video: VID 64 MEG Radeon

Had no problem all along, till yesterday.

Could it be after I reloaded IV6 thought had problem with

the part Library issue, but this is resolved.

Notice thereafter had the constraint issue problem.

After the reload was trying to re install SP1 & 2

but it tells me these SP are already installed.

No, I think it's the video card itself. ATI, especially Radeons, are known to be buggy with IV. Sometimes (rarely) they will work but most people have trouble with them, especially in IDW's. Radeons are not CAD cards. My suggestion is for both of you to switch to a nVidia based video card. Preferrable a Quadro card. Do a searh in this NG for ATI to read about all of the problems most IV users running ATI cards have.

Okay here is what I had to do to resolve both the
crashing upon constraining parts and the template not fitting inside the screen
space. You are not going to like it.

I had to de-install INVENTOR 6 and physically throw
away all folders within the program files directory ( save anthing you don't
want to lose first) like your drawing templates. Then I had to do a
complete reinstall from my original disk. Afterwards I had to hunt down SP 1 and
install it. Do a restart. Install SP2, do a restart. The I had to put the
orignal disk in the machine during the last restart so that I could once again
register my software with the autodesk server remotely. If I did not do this the
program would not open. Once that was done, constraints work and all probelms
are resolved, well that is until I have to deal with anonther one.

Hope this helps.

Ervin,

As it sound you were another person with this problem.

Question: Did you have to go into the registry and start deleting there
too?

Hate to mess around within the registry.

Thanks

It isn't the graphics card at all.
