I've noticed this in other features in the past. Inventor has an ability in one area, but you go to another area and the ability is gone. It's like they are thinking "eh, these guys only need "x" and "y" commands for machining"!! Hello, let us decide how we manufacture our parts, and Autodesk can decide how to give us the most flexible package that can model anything. I personally think using a derived part is a workaround, and shouldn't have to be the way I do my part (much harder to revise).
I really think you should be able to make any CUT in an assembly that you can make in a part, because thats the way it is in real life. As far as Extruding goes (adding material), I don't see the application for it, but thats the point, maybe someone else might.
Am I the only one having this problem? Is my only alternative to do a derived part? Thanks in advance to any responses.
Can anyone help me out and let me know where I can make suggestions to AutoDesk directly?
