Probably a simple constraint problem

I can't figure out how to constrain a 1" sphere to the sharp edge of a
.75 dia bore.

In your sketch, draw a construction line from the axis to the circumference,
dimension the construction line. Finish the sketch, add a work plane by
selecting the construction line and then an origin plane that is parallel to
the construction line. That should create a work plane at the Ø.75 tangent,
then just mate the axes (bore and sphere) and the plane to a face.

I thought it could be done simpler that that.

thanks.

I haven't tried this, but an axes mating combined with an outside tangent
between the sphere surface and an edge (this much I have used, but is
unstable) and then an angular constraint between a sphere origin plane and
another object, plane, etc. to maintain orientation.
