Possible to re-orient sketch to different plane?

After importing parts form MDT I discovered the base feature sketch is not
on the origin planes. Also the origin planes & other work features are not
at the origin (where UCS icon is)!

How can the origin planes be positioned at the origin & how can the sketches
be re-oriented to the origin planes?

Edit the first sketch and tie it to the origin?

How do you "tie" it to the origin.

Project an origin feature and constrain to it.

Maybe post the part if you can just to make sure we are indeed working
on a translation and not a dumped "base" (dumb solid) part.

But, I just have to ask Gary, WHY do you feel you need to constrain an
imported part to the origin? Just to have every thing neat and tidy? Or is
there a bigger reason. If you don't have a big reason why, just leave them
be and move on.

Just my opinion of course.

If your part is too far away from the origin it can cause problems later

This I know Teun, but wasn't listed in the original question.
I'm just trying to point out that it isn't necessary to have things exactly
at the origin, especially imported parts.

Ron,
I need to constrain the asy with a plane at the center of the part & it's
not there. Yes, I could create a couple user planes but that's more work a
little more overhead.

I managed to be able to change the sketch to the origin plane finally but
was curious if you could somehow change the location of the origin planes
for imported parts.

It's definitely an imported translation assembly with features not dumb
solids. I was able to change the sketch to the plane of choice but can't
relocate the origin planes. This is intentional behavior I'm sure but it
does cause hassles sometimes when the translated origin planes are way far
away from the part.

You can't edit the sketch and drag the whole thing close to the origin
point and constrain it symmetrical to the origin point/axes?

No this is not possible - short of moving the part in the source file before
you import it into Inventor - which may in fact be easier.
