I'm assuming what you're asking is if you can have a base view in a positional representation (say Position 1) and a section/detail of that view in the Master position. Is that correct?

If so, I'm afraid not.

Sorry, is not about the drawing but the model representaion browser. Is not the view but the Position or Detail Representation in the assembly's model:

Kudos to Will for trying to understand something out of your first post.

I am still baffled even after the second post.

Can you help us out with some images of what you are trying to accomplish or the models.

Obviously not you or your kudos receiver have been working with "Level od Detail" representation tool and sorry but I have no time to explain that. Search in Inventor Help for "Level of Detail"

Sorry mate,

I just didn't understand what you wanted to do.

Are you trying to change the master Level of Detail to look like a different one from same document ?

I want to change the "Master" level of detail representation to one of the others "Level of Detail" in the same assembly. Is it possible or not?

Master LOD is locked to show all parts.  You create your other LODs by suppressing components from the Master LOD.

If you don't want a part in the Master LOD, delete it from your assembly.

Now if you want to open your assembly with a different LOD active, that is possible.

This I knew well. But I do not want to delete all other "Level of Detail"s so that my "Level of Detail" became the "Master" level of detail.

Even if you delete them all, you can't delete the master.

I was going to suggest ilogic to copy the state of components but master doesn't allow suppressed components.

I guess I will have to join the rest of the respondents: I don't understand what you want to do.

The Master LOD can not have any suppressed components in it.  A LOD is only created when you suppress a component.  The Master is the parent of all the other LODs in the iam file.

I don't see any way to go from a LOD with suppressed components into the Master LOD which can not have any suppressed components.

Yes but i can delete the Level of Detail and then the "Level of Detail" became the "Master" level of detail.

That is what I said: deleting the last "Level of Detail" the "Master" will be the last deleted "Lvevel of Detail"

"The Master LOD can not have any suppressed components in it."

That was the right answer.

So, no other Level of Detail can be promoted to be the Master LOD

Thanks swalton
