Like most stuff, it's easy...once you know how. Assemblies are made using
3D constraints, which define relationships between parts. There are four
types of assembly constraints (which are all found on the 1st tab in the
Place Constraint dialog), and each has certain variations: 1) Mate, for
faces lines, and points 2) Angle, 3) Tangent and 4) Insert.

Mate and Insert are the two most commonly used. They're the only two you
need to assemble your train. The insert is a very nice constraint because
it's really two constraints in one. It's a centerline mate, combined with a
face mate. That makes it ideal for sticking bolts in holes and things like
that.

I went ahead and assembled your train. Copy the attached assembly file into
the directory with your part files, and open it up. You can expand the
parts in the browser and see what constraints I used and how I used them. I
trust you'll use this as a teaching aid, and not turn it in as your
assignment .

Inventor comes with some good assembly tutorials, and there are more online.

Could you give me the full copy of the miniature Train, for further inspection?
