Plane tangent to cylinder and rotated 45 degrees about cylinder axis?

How can I create a work plane that is tangent to a cylinder and rotated 45
degrees about the cylinder axis?

I hoping to have to create only the plane, and not a bunch of preliminary
things first.

Here are two different methods.

The first one requires a line at 45° in your sketch for the cylinder.
The second method is to pattern a tangent parallel plane (which is the easiest if you already have this plane).

When you get the part finished zip and attach and someone might optimize the method of creation (I assume you are already using origin geometry.)

Thanks for the sample... I opened it but the features in the model tree
window are all greyed out, and I cannot edit it or see the resulting solid.

What am I doing wrong?

Pull down the red End of Part marker in the browser history tree. The part was rolled up to reduce file size.

OK. Got that part.

I like the line-from-a-sketch method, but after picking the surface, I
cannot pick the 45 deg line within skecth.

I have the visibility of the sketch on and I can pick the surface, but not
the line inside of the sketch.

In sketch, create the line at the angle needed.
create the point at the intersection of the circumference and line.
Exit out.
Make the sketch visible!
Create plane, point to the surface of the cylinder and the point.
Done! The plane angle is adjustable through the sketch parameters.

Got it!!

Making the skecth VISIBLE in the feature tree was important, as well as
picking the ENDPOINT of the line, and not the line itself.

Thanks for working me through this.
