Placing symbols in drawings

I'm trying to create a symbol for Center of Gravity, which I can then place at the correct location in my assembly drawing. However, IV will not let me relate the symbol to any of the drawing objects through a dimension or some other relationship. There has to be a way to do this. Can anybody help me out?

You have to project the edges or points in order to
put dimension from them to the symbol
