My company offers training for Inventor and we have a course that deals with Tube and Pipe Routed Systems.  In this course we show how to design your own iParts for pipes and various pipe fittings.  Check out this link:

I understand if you can't/ or don't want to use our course, but I promise that you won't find near as much information on the Tube & Pipe environment anywhere else.  It walks you through step by step on how all the commands work, and gives you best practices in dealing with your projects.

I think that you should look into some kind of training on the subject, whether it's with us or someone else.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
