Passing parameters to iProperties

I am creating a pretty complicated iPart. Something that I would like to do is generate the vendors part number. The part can be varying length and the vendors part number includes this length in their number. So, when I setup the ipart table, the "Length" field is a custom parameter that the user can fill in. Once this is input, the vendors part number can be generated.
But since the length is a custom parameter, the part number will not be generated correctly. I thought about using an "embedded parameters" worksheet. I could work with this, but it will only pass values to the part parameters and not to the iProperties.

As far as I know since R4 this has been a shortcoming. Does R11 offer anything that will allow us to workaround this issue?
