Parts and subassemblies disappear from assembly view after closing drawing

Yes, I am afraid we are still using Inventor 2010 but I hope this will change soon …

This is the situation. We work on a drawing of a part or subassembly embedded in a higher level assembly which is in session. After saving and closing the drawing the view of the higher level assembly opens up again but parts and subassemblies have disappeared at random (please see the attached screen shots). They still show up in the browser and BOM there is nothing lost, all very well but they do not show up in the assembly view and the only way to get them back is to close down the assembly and open it up again. This is nothing new, the problem existed at the company I am working for already for years, but now I have to cope with it and it’s driving me mad.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

Bernward

Recently I was having a similar problem with Inventor 2014. Only the views were section cuts.

I suspect in my case it was because of multibody parts. Check if the parts that lose visibility are multibody parts. If so, try to make a view rep and assign it in the top assemblies.

Thank you for your reply

unfortunately the parts are "bog-standard" single body parts and sub
assemblies. I couldn't make out any system to determine which parts
and/or sub assemblies are most likely to be affected. Sometimes it
doesn't even happen at all. As I said, it is completely random it does
though happen on all of our three workstations. I would assume it is
some kind of overflow issue but it is not related to the size or
complexity of the models.
