Part Names

I liked some advice.

I am working to make our products to convert to Inventor.

Now walk with us the positive discussion how the files should be named.

To be clear do you use the entire name, but that may have long names.

Example BandrasterStandardPanel.

Now, some say keepyoure name as short as possible the other says it must be clear.

It may happen that you use youre  part in iLogic  and then a long name is not always easy.

We do not want to work with numbers that you can not see what it is.

Are there any guidelines or advice please let me know.

We are going to use Vault

We use our part numbers as our file names.  Which are about 7-9 characters long.

The other descriptive items can be included in the iproperties description.

Now, are you using vault at all?  If so you can setup these parameters (iproperties) to not only be used

as searchable items in the vault, but viewable items as well.  So those viewing the vault can see all facits of each file.

Hope this helps you.
