Parameter units when imported from excel?

When I link in an excel document to my model all parameters in that excel gets the unit (mm).
How can I change this? For instance I want some of the parameters to be an angle.

Best regards,
Emil

in your excel spreadsheet you can put the units into a column.

parameter name, value or equation, unit of measurement, comment

which is a different order from the parameter dialogue box,

parameter name, unit of measurement, value or equation, comment

this is R11 behavior anyway

Well, I have tried that but it does not work. I had to do a workaround with a user parameter like: x deg =180*sign(param) deg
and in the excel document the value for the parameter is either -1 or 1. This works fine for now when I only have 2 different values for the angle, but when I want to have more different values I will run in to trouble. I´ll try your tip again and see if I get it to work.

Thanks

It works. Attach our *.xls file.

can link the attached excel to part, you will get
wat you want. take it as an example 🙂

the first column is the parameter name, the second
column is the parameter value, the third column is the parameter unit, and
the fourth column is the Comment.

hope this can help you

if you still can;t, can you tell me your inventor
version?

so, what would the unit be for text parameters ?

either  "txt", "Text" nor "text"  seems to work here....

I don't think it's possible to import text parameters from excel.  I believe that only numeric parameters are valid.

...but you might look into (if you haven't already) controlling these with iLogic.

Too bad a change request is needed for this
