Offset work plane

Is there a way to offset a plane from an origin plane?

I believe you can just select the workplane feature, highlight the origin plane in the browser and then drag in the graphics area. It may be easier to turn on the origin planes visibility so that you can just pick it when the wp feature is active though.

Think you can pick the workplane tool, pick the plane/face to offset from
and drag while LMB is down. An offs distance dialog should pop up allowing
you to enter a distance. Also, if you pick the workplane command and hit F1
you can get a pretty good handle on workplane creation.

Yes. If you click on the workplane tool and then hit F1 and how to create offset workplane it says (and animates the process)to select and drag the workplane you want to offset to the desired offset distance. You can enter the distance directly if it doesn't snap to your desired distance. J.D.

I clicked the work plane tool button, then the origin plane that I wanted to
offset from, and the offset dimensin dialog box came up.

Just needed help finding the knife to cut it with 🙂

Thanks guys.

Sure, first make your Origin Plane visible, than create a Work Plane by
selecting and dragging the Origin Plane(s). You can enter positive or
negtive values (which can not be done with dims)

If you RMB on that plane in the browser and pick "Show dimensions" the
dialog will pup up again and you can change the offset, and any geometry
that is sketched on that plane.

But be aware off the workplane bug.
if you make a workplane adaptive and then try to clear the adaptivity the
workplane gets groundet and then ist as far as i know no way to edit the
dimension on the
workplane anymore ( redo all or undo undo undo undo ). another "bug" they
newer stop :o(
anyone have a solution on this i would like to know.

If you don't want the workplane grounded as would be expected when
adaptivity is turned off, you can use the redefine feature to bring it back
to a normal workplane.
