I am runnign Inventor Pro 2015 and would like to create wires. I tried to follow the tutorials, however, very quickly determined that there seems to be something wrong.
I cannot find ways to insert pins, or create wires at all.
Here are some screenshots that show how there are no enabled ways to use the Cable & Harness module.
The module/addin is loaded as seen here:
I'm going mad looking for a solution. Do I need to reinstall anything?
Can someone please help?
Try a repair install on Inventor.
Have you tried it with a different/new simple part?
Have you tried logging in as a different user?
Are you on support/subscription? If so have you submitted a trouble ticket?
Try a repair install on Inventor.
I thought about it, but wanted that to be last resort. Or should that be the first step?
Have you tried it with a different/new simple part?
Yes I did, no success.
Have you tried logging in as a different user?
No I have not, I don't even know how to do that.
Are you on support/subscription? If so have you submitted a trouble ticket?
I don't have support. Is there any other way to contact Autodesk?

I would try a repair and even a clean/complete removal and reinstall if the repair didn't work. (Personally I think that should be your first step)
As for contacting Autodesk without support.. No.. gotta pay to play :).. But Autodesk employees do post on here fairly often and might have some other suggestions.
Try this..
Last week I had the same thought:
What if I changed something and by accident disabled something. I found the same link.
I tried today after the fresh new install.
Still nothing!
Just for fun, can you attach the file here?
I beleive that in 2015 it moved to the Manage tab to author your pins:
Here is the file, it is the standard folder that comes with Illustrator.
I use the Enclosure_assembly.iam
I don't know if this is helpful, but Autodesk offers as a tutorial download for Inventor Pro2015 even though it installs as:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor LT 2014\inventor_2015_routed_systems\tutorial files
Yes, adding a connector should be where you described, but this is what I see:
My Add connector is grayed out and there is no message saying why.
Location looks the same as mine, I might change it to unloaded, exit out of Inventor, do a system reboot, open Inventor and then change the setting to Auto-Load. Close Inventor, restart Inventor and see if it solves the problem. Also make sure you are current on all SP's and Updates. I have seen times when Inventor is not closed properly, no all the settings match up with the Windows Registry. If this doesn't work, then a full un-install and re-install would be in order. Make sure that you have an Administrative level and the UAC slider is set to it's lowest position and any Anti-Virus software is disabled for the install.
I did follow the steps. Turned autoload off, and unloaded Add-In.
Sadly the behavior is still continues. 😞
Also, yesterday I uninstalled Inventor and reinstalled from the ground up.
I must say that something you said struck a chord though: I did experience some crashes in Inventor in the past that required me to kill the process.
Any other thoughts on the debugging? Do any of you know if there is a error log or some type of watch window to see debug messages, assertions, etc. for Inventor?
The really sad thing is that from all the modules this is THE one I need the most...
Here is another interesting fact:
When I open the the sample file with the connector pins, all buttons related to Pins are grayed out.
As soon as I right click a pin in the tree the Properties pin becomes available? (not the other ones like Add pin, those remain grayed out)
Is this a hint or just a coincidence?
Do you have any 3rd party add-ins running in Inventor?
Are you running with Admin Privileges?
The Debug is really only good for ADSK.
I am not running any custom sofware or addins.
And I am running as an administrator.
I wonder what steps could I take to troubleshoot and try to find the root cause?
Ideas?
