Norton System Works and Inventor...

I have never had any problems running NAV.

I checked under settings for recognised file types being scanned and .ipt .iam and .idw are not there.

.dwg is there though.

This I would assume is due to disabling autoprotect on installation of inventor, it does not register the file types.

A scary scenario is a virus coming in disguised as an inventor file. This is a less than ideal situation.

It could probably be done as a self running VBA
macro in the part, if that is possible in

Inventor. Otherwise I don't see any easy way that a
virus infected part file could execute

it's code payload.

How do you have NAV set-up ?

I've set Auto-Protect to 'comprehensive', then excluded all Inventor files,
project folders and Inventor installation folders.

I think E-mail scanning will scan all attachments irrespective of file type.

Manual Scan is set to 'comprehensive'.

This set-up will mean NAV won't interfere with the usual operation of Inventor,
an old problem.

E-mails and downloads from newsgroups are scanned.

I can still manually scan any file for a virus.

I run NAV 2003 the same way as Duncan, and have no problems related to that.
