Yeah, I checked there first.

The washers come as pairs, with mating wedges on one side, and radial teeth on the other. You install the pair with the wedges interlocking so that as you increase bolt tension the wedges lock together and prevent the fastener from vibrating loose.

They are in the McMaster-Carr and Spaenaur cataloges as well as others.

Maybe I'll check the M-C website to see if the have dummy solids of the washer pairs to download.

I worked for Nord-Lock and now work for a German company that has a lower cost equal called Heico-Lock. I have files if you need them.

Actually if you have any I wouldn't mind. I need Nord-Lock washers to put in our content centre. Well - it doesn't have to be the brand, just that style of washer

I am also after Nord-lock washers for our content centre...  I know the thread is over 10 years old, hopefully someone has created some in that time?

another question not directly related to the ipart question, I would think that the part would be made of 2 washers, how do i call that up in the BOM as 2 washers and not just 1 part?  I dont really want to be putting them in seperatly because they are always going to be installed as pairs

Hi Stephen,

What I ended up doing was:

1, Obtain the list of Nord-Lock dimensions from the official website
2, Import those dimensions into Excel, remove unnecessary columns
2, create an adjustable part with parameters to match the Nord-Lock Dimensions list
3, Publish the Nord-Lock Washer part to content centre
4, import Excel file to create all the various Nord-Locks.

When creating the part, make a very very small cut straight through the centre of the washer, to signify the two parts.

Nord-Lock washers will always come as pairs so their dimensions cover both parts. They come glued together too, so really you can count them as a single washer. In the description just make sure they are called "Nord-Lock Washer Pair" and that covers everything.

Hope this helps!

I like it, it adjusts nicely - though there are a lot of features to it.  I'm just wondering if 100+ are used is it going to take up a load of memory in comparison to my (very basic looking) simple model?

Hands down, for looks, yours wins!

Did you make two different families based on the different materials?  Have you added the specific materials Nord-Lock use to your library?

Will have to see if the features slow down a large assembly...  We only use 316L because everything is marine, I have created a load of other standard fastener content though and used the 'material guide' 'add material as new family members', you choose the material as you are placing the part, seems to work ok
