New Device

Hello,

I am looking into a new laptop as a engineering student. I need to be able to run Autodesk/CATIA/Inventor.

Right now with my budget under $2000 I have settled on the Asus Zenbook UX303LN with these specs:

Screen Size: 13.3 inches

3200x1800 pixels

intel ocre i7 2ghz

12 GB ddr3l sdram RAM

Hard drive: 256GB SSD

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GT840M 2GB DDR3

Will these specs be good enough to run these programs smoothly?

Thanks in advance

I cannot imagine doing CAD work on a screen that small and without a numerical keypad.

At least get a second monitor for stationary work.

Okay, I could fix the resolution but with those specs could I run these programs smoothly? I am a student and prefer this form factor and battery life.

A 2GHz cpu might be a little bit slow, since Inventor is mostly a single threaded program. Which means the higher the cpu speed the better (for the most part). Other wise the specs look good and should be able to handle things that aren't too complex.

So do any of you have recommendations or is the standing solution getting a external monitor for stationary use (like at my desk) and otherwise it is ok. By suggestions I mean like other laptops in similar form factors.
