If you consider ATI a usable video subsystem, there are lots to choose
from. Personally, I wouldn't want one. Some of the newer software
programs are using the NVIDIA CG technology and I don't think ATI
supports it. If you are using applications like 3D Studio more than
CAD, the ATI might be a reasonable choice. So, you take the $4,000 hp,
add another gig of ram to it ($999) and you have a $5K computer. The
only question is will it work with your CAD system of choice. Or for
$4800 (I just priced it) you can get an M60 with 2 Gig and a 4x DVD
burner as well.

I would wait until others who use Inventor start raving about a computer
before spending that kind of money.

Once nr.1 isn't always nr.1 I'm not an ATI guy, just a customer who doesn't
like monopolists. Therefore FGL T2/X2 (+ mobility) card performance would be
very interesting. Hopefully Autodesk will keep their graphic card
certification up to date (like Solidworks does).

Anyone experiencing FGL T2/X2 ?

I hear what you say and I agree with the bit about the monopoly. I would
not blame Dell for the monopoly, I would blame all the others for not going
with nVidia graphics. Sounds like a good competitor machine except for the
graphics. Hopefully after some tests I will be proved wrong, it's just that
ATI has become such a bad word with IV.
