Network crasches under Win2000

Since the installation of IV6 and MDT6 everytime I try to access the printer
on the network my computer crashes.

Similarly when I select the internet support access from the main page
opening MDT6 the computer crashes too.

Any other applications ( MSword, Access,Excel) including MDT4 work
perfectly.

I would check your printer drivers, graphics card drivers, network card drivers and Anti Virus
software version. These are usually the first things to check with crashes like this. Hopefully
this should resolve the issue.

Thanks John

I went through all drivers updating, suppress Norton anti Virus but problem
still occurs.

I use a Geforce2 MX/MX400 graphic card with NVIDIA driver to have OpenGL
compatibility. I have access to many parameters but have not idea of the
final result.

I share my default printer (HP4500N) with one of my colleague. If I open IV6
or MDT6 my computer crashes even when my colleague want to print something
through the network.
Any more idea.

Claude

Ah, the mist is clearing, my crystal ball is picking up a signal and my Hazel branches are starting
to twitch

Had a similar problem with a client running plain old AutoCAD 2002 and two of us spent the best part
of a week trying to get to the bottom of the problem to no avail. In desperation I got an HP
JetDirect box out of the car (needed for another job later that day), configured it on the network,
connected the printer to it and reinstalled the printer drivers and it worked, so they purchased a
JetDirect box.

Thats all I can suggest. I don't know what is causing the problem - it appears to be a lottery as
to whether the printers work fine or not - but standalone print boxes usually sort the problem.
There are exceptions where they cause more problems and you then need to install the HP Standard
Port Monitor on each machine and print through this.

Reminds me of a problem I had with a brother printer. IDW would not open or
an insane amount of time to open after installing the new printer. We
finally went back to an HP and the same IDW would open new problem.
Something just did not like the brother.

We had this problem. The print server was just updated to the latest drivers. We had to go back to the old drivers to fix the problem. - ed -
